PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): The Counter Terrorism Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has registered the first Information Report (FIR) against PTI MPA Shakeel khan for injuring Levies personnel.
Two Levies personnel were injured after firing involving the guards of PTI MPA Shakeel Khan in Malakand, according to police and local reports.
Videos purportedly showing the MPA’s guards opening fire at Levies personnel have also surfaced. Authorities have taken notice of the incident, while Levies officials have said that legal action will be taken against those responsible.
The incident comes amid heightened political activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ahead of the PTI’s planned September 27 march on Islamabad.
PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar has publicly called for the march and, in a September 20 speech, said protesters would approach Islamabad through multiple routes. He also used the phrase “turn Islamabad into Somnath” while addressing supporters.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s official profile, Shakeel Ahmad represents PK-23 Malakand-I and is listed as an independent member of the provincial assembly.
The Malakand shooting case is now under investigation, and further legal action will depend on the findings of the authorities.
