Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid has announced that the next quarterly instalment under the Benazir Kafaalat Programme will be released soon, introducing a new payment system to make withdrawals easier for beneficiaries.
Speaking during an online public hearing (E-Kachehri), Senator Rubina Khalid said the upcoming instalment would be distributed through the new interoperability system, allowing beneficiaries to withdraw their financial assistance from any authorised payment point operated by six partner financial institutions.
The partner institutions include Habib Bank Limited (HBL), HBL Microfinance Bank, Bank Alfalah, JazzCash, Easypaisa and the Bank of Punjab.
Under the new system, beneficiaries will receive an SMS notification on their registered mobile numbers once their payments have been transferred to their accounts. They will then be able to collect their money from any nearby authorised payment point at a convenient time.
After the withdrawal, beneficiaries will receive a second SMS confirmation from the bank containing details of the amount received.
The BISP chairperson advised female beneficiaries to keep both SMS notifications safe and cautioned them against handing over their mobile phones to retailers, payment agents or other individuals during the withdrawal process.
During the E-Kachehri, Senator Rubina Khalid personally attended 24 calls from beneficiaries, listened to their complaints and directed relevant officials to resolve their issues immediately and on a priority basis.
She said the interoperability facility would improve access to financial services and make the payment process more convenient, transparent and efficient.
Senator Rubina Khalid also credited President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their efforts in providing the facility to beneficiaries.
