LAHORE (Kashmir English): Fatima Sana has been named captain of the Pakistan women’s cricket team for the upcoming tri-series in Ireland as well as the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Saturday.
The Women’s National Selection Committee has announced a 15-member squad for both events. Pakistan will take part in a tri-series in Dublin featuring hosts Ireland and the West Indies.
The series will be played from 28 May to 4 June, with Pakistan scheduled to play four matches as part of their preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The World Cup, featuring 12 teams, will be held from 12 June to 5 July in England and Wales. The tri-series will serve as a key build-up event ahead of the global tournament.
Several players, including Eyman Fatima, Natalia Pervaiz, Rameen Shamim, Saira Jabeen, and Tasmia Rubab, will be making their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup debut.
Fatima Sana, who previously led the side in the 2024 edition held in the UAE, will captain Pakistan in her second consecutive World Cup as skipper.
Pakistan recently completed a successful T20I series against Zimbabwe in Karachi, winning 3-0, which provided valuable preparation ahead of upcoming assignments.
Before the World Cup, the Pakistan women will play two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka on 6 June and Scotland on 9 June in Derby.
In the group stage, Pakistan will open their campaign against India on 14 June at Birmingham, followed by matches against South Africa, Bangladesh, Australia, and the Netherlands at venues across England.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals scheduled for 30 June and 2 July, while the final will be played at Lord’s on 5 July.
