ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Progress in talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been welcomed as a positive development for the country.

PTI had agreed to cooperate with the government on several key issues, including special administrative arrangements in the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, support for ongoing military operations in the province and cooperation in efforts to counter terrorism.

PTI also agreed not to hold future long marches or violent demonstrations and would instead focus on improving governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The matters concerning meetings with prisoners and other outstanding issues would be resolved in accordance with the law.

The reported understanding between the government and PTI was a positive sign, stressing that political differences should be resolved through dialogue.

However, PTI was criticized for what it described as the loss of valuable time over the past three years, saying such issues should have been addressed earlier.

Necessary measures would be taken if PTI failed to honour the commitments.

The Govt-PTI Dialogue comes after the government and opposition held their second round of talks in Islamabad on Saturday.
