ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): US Congressman Jack Bergman has expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in ongoing peace negotiations between the United States and Iran, praising the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.
In a letter addressed to the PM Shehbaz and CDF Asim Minir, Congressman Bergman, who serves as Co-Chair of the Congressional Pakistan Caucus, thanked them for their leadership role in the ongoing peace negotiations between the United States and Iran.
The letter stated that Pakistan’s willingness to use its strategic position to help bring the parties to the negotiating table demonstrated its importance in regional diplomacy and peacebuilding efforts.
“The United States’ relationship with Pakistan is of enduring strategic importance, and Pakistan’s willingness to leverage its unique position to bring these parties to the table is a demonstration of true statesmanship, ” the letter stated.
“The President, the White House, and Congress have recognized this publicly. I echo those sentiments fully.”
He further conveyed gratitude on behalf of the Congressional Pakistan Caucus and expressed hope to visit Pakistan again soon to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
“On behalf of the Congressional Pakistan Caucus, thank you. You have our deep and lasting gratitude. I look forward to returning to Pakistan soon and to continuing to strengthen the bond between our two nations in person,” it added.
