Kashmir Premier League Football to begin from Oct 8 in Mirpur

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) is set to organise the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) Football 2026 from October 8 to 10, 2026, at the Muslim Hands Astro Turf Academy in Mirpur.

Addressing the press conference today, Vice Chancellor MUST Prof. Dr. Anwar Khitab said that the tournament is being held under the MUST Umbrella in coalition with Muslim Hands and Benazir Bhutto Medical College with the Slogan “One Kashmir, One Passion, One Game”.

The league comprises six teams, including Mirpur Warriors, Muzaffarabad Titans, Poonch Champions, Ladakh Legends, Srinagar Strikers and Jammu Challengers.

The press conference was attended by Medical Superintendent, Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital Mirpur, President Kashmir Press Club Mirpur, renowned Journalists from print and electronic Media, community members, coordinating administrative officers of MUST, and staff members.

VC MUST briefed the participants about the KPL Football 2026 its objectives and significance, highlighting the broader role of sports in promoting a healthy and socially cohesive society.

He further stressed that sporting activities provide young people with opportunities to develop discipline, teamwork, leadership and spirit of healthy competition.

Dr Khitab emphasized that the “One Kashmir, One Passion, One Game” initiative conveys message of unity, fraternity and collective enthusiasm through football.

He stated that such sporting events provide talented young footballers with a platform to demonstrate their abilities and inspire the younger generation to participate actively in sports.

“Alongside the academic development and research, MUST remains committed to providing students and youth with opportunities for intellectual, physical and personal development of their skills,” he added.

The press conference concluded with prayer and appreciation for the media, community representatives, administrative officers and all stakeholders supporting the KPL Football 2026 and its message of unity through sport.
