NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): In a major crackdown against adulterated food, the Food Authority of Azad Kashmir, Neelum, fined those selling substandard food items in the District Headquarters Bazaar, Aath Muqam.
During the operation, the team checked several cooking items, including oil. The TPC value of cooking oil for pakodas, samosas, and kebabs was checked through a tester.
The oil, which had a higher TPC value, was destroyed and wasted on the spot. Whereas heavy fines were imposed on the sellers.
During the inspection, bakers and factories, general stores, vegetable and fruit, kebab, and pakora shops were inspected. Various bakers and factories were fined for poor cleanliness and lack of expiry date on bakers’ items, bread, and other locally prepared items.
A total of Rs 59,000 was collected as fine and registration revenue. During the check, the Food Authority team instructed all the FBOs to take special care of cleanliness and sell pure, quality food items.
Assistant Food Safety Officer Khawaja Mumtaz Ahmed, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shaiq, Hafiz Anwar Hussain, and supporting staff participated in the operation.
