QUETTA (Kashmir English): A large public jirga held in Malik Payand Khan Killi, near Quetta, brought together tribal elders, community leaders, and residents, who collectively expressed their determination to stand against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and announced Lashak Kashi [Mobilisation of Tribal Force] to restore peace in the region.

The jirga was presided over by tribal elder Malik Payand Khan and attended by a significant number of local notables and residents. Participants unanimously condemned militant violence and pledged cooperation with state institutions in efforts aimed at improving security and stability.

Addressing the gathering, Malik Payand said that the time had come for decisive action against terrorist elements that have caused suffering and instability in the region. He reaffirmed his support for the state and security institutions in efforts to combat militancy.

Khan expressed deep sorrow and grief over the Salman Bazai incident. “Our young Salman Bazai was killed, but the oppression did not end even after that. Today, 28 days have passed, and his body is still lying in the mountains,” he said.

“He was neither shrouded nor allowed to be buried. We were not even given the right to bury our own son.”

Malik Payand added that the terrorists have made it difficult for the local population to live on their own land.

“Our houses were destroyed, we were forced to migrate from our areas, our families were displaced. When you did not let us live peacefully on your land, now we will not let you live peacefully either,” he added.

The tribal elders and the people participating in the jirga strongly supported the stance of Malik Payand Khan and announced their unity against the TTP. The participants expressed their determination that collective resistance would be made against the terrorist elements and all possible steps would be taken to establish peace in the area.

At the end of the jirga, the participants unanimously reiterated their commitment to continue the struggle against terrorism and to fully cooperate with state institutions.
