ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), under the Ministry of Defense and National Weather Forecasting Centre (NWFC), has issued a nationwide heatwave advisory for severe hot weather conditions likely to prevail in most parts of the country between June 8 and June 12, 2026.

Heatwave conditions are likely to intensify across various regions between June 7 and June 12 under its influence.

Weather Forecast Across Pakistan

Significantly above normal temperatures are likely across various parts of Pakistan:
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Lakki Marwat, and Dera Ismail Khan, temperatures are forecast to remain 4-6 °C above normal from June 8 to June 11. The maximum temperature is likely to reach 41-46 °C.
In northern parts, including Chitral, Swat, and Gilgit-Baltistan, the temperature is expected to be between 37-40 °C during June 8-10.
In Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Muzaffarabad, temperatures are also expected to remain 5-7 °C above normal during June 8 to June 10. Maximum temperatures are likely to touch 41-44 °C.
Extreme heat is likely between June 8 and June 11 in the central and southern parts of Punjab, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and surrounding districts, where the maximum temperature is likely to touch 44-48 °C.
In Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, and surrounding districts, temperatures are expected to remain 4-6 °C above normal during June 10-12, with maximum temperatures likely touching 48-51 °C.
In Karachi, hot and dry conditions are expected from June 8 to June 12, where temperatures are likely to range between 40-43 °C.
Nighttime temperatures may also remain elevated with reduced relief from diurnal heat during heatwave conditions, says the advisory, while hot and dry or dusty and strong winds may also develop in southern Punjab and parts of Sindh.
Advisory for Precautionary Measures
Citizens are asked to take precautionary measures, especially children, women, elderly citizens, and the general public, to avoid unnecessary sun exposure. Farmers have been requested to take extra care of crops and livestock during the heatwave conditions. Citizens are asked to take extra care when consuming fluids, to consume adequate water, and to avoid water wastage. Demand for electricity and water is likely to increase. The public is advised to take enough drinking water for consumption during this period, and avoid open sun exposure as much as possible. Concerned departments are also instructed to be on alert for any untoward incident during heatwave conditions.
