ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast below-normal rainfall this monsoon season.

According to experts, this year, monsoon will begin in the first week of July, and there is a possibility of below-normal rainfall during the monsoon. Rain spells will occur intermittently during the monsoon.

According to the Met office, temperatures will remain above normal during the monsoon.

Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will, however, receive normal rainfall.

The plains of the country are likely to experience less monsoon rain, the experts warned and added due to increased humidity during the monsoon, temperatures will feel higher.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the monsoon season in Pakistan will start from the first week of July, though Sindh is unlikely to receive monsoon rains before July 5.
