MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Normal life and business activities continued uninterrupted across several cities of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) despite a protest call issued by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) for June 9.
According to reports from Mirpur, Dadial, Kotli, Rawalakot and Leepa Valley, all major markets, commercial centres and business establishments remained open, while citizens continued their daily routines without disruption despite JAAC’s protest call.
In Mirpur, Dadial and Kotli, markets witnessed normal business activity, with buyers and traders actively engaged in buying and selling. No significant impact of the protest call was observed, and commercial activities continued as usual throughout the day.
The protest call had earlier been declared invalid by the government. Observers noted that it did not receive significant public support, resulting in the continuation of routine economic and social activities across the region.
In Rawalakot, traffic flow remained smooth on major roads, while educational institutions, government offices, private businesses and commercial centres functioned normally. The presence of customers and shopkeepers in the city’s markets reflected the continuation of regular business activity.
Residents expressed satisfaction over the peaceful atmosphere, stating that normal civic and economic life remained unaffected. Similar conditions were reported from other parts of AJK, where no disruption to business, educational or social activities was observed.
Meanwhile, local sources from Leepa Valley reported that the situation remained completely normal, with traffic moving smoothly and business centres operating according to their regular schedules. Residents continued their daily activities without any hindrance.
Public circles in the valley expressed hope that the people would continue to prioritize the broader interests of the state and maintain peace and stability by avoiding any situation that could create uncertainty.
Overall, normal life across Azad Jammu and Kashmir remained largely unaffected, with commercial, educational and social activities continuing in a peaceful environment.
