LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistani wrestler and two-time gold medallist Inam Butt has tested positive for doping following a sample collected during the Asian Beach Games in China in April, sources said.

According to sources, Inam underwent a doping test while competing at the Games, and the sample subsequently returned a positive result.

The two-time Asian Beach Games gold medallist is believed to have taken prescribed medication before the competition while receiving treatment for an eye condition.

Sources familiar with the matter said the medication was used for medical purposes and was not intended to improve athletic performance.

Following the positive result, Inam has submitted his medical records, test reports and prescription details to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as part of his explanation.

Sources said the wrestler had previously received permission to use the medication for a specified period. His case is now being discussed with anti-doping officials, who are examining the medical information and circumstances surrounding the test.

Inam could face disciplinary action, including a possible suspension, if WADA does not accept his explanation and supporting medical evidence.

However, no final decision has been taken and the review process is still underway.
