SWAT (Kashmir English): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Housing Minister Dr Amjad Ali Khan, also known as “Amjad Pansari”, staged an abduction drama in Barikot, Swat, and subsequently went underground.
The incident took place in Dr Amjad’s home district amid growing political tensions and ongoing activity linked to the PTI-led protest movement.
The development is a broader attempt by elements within the provincial leadership to create political drama and avoid direct participation in the ongoing mobilisation.
The provincial leadership was already facing difficulties in organising the movement, with leaders taking lengthy routes and avoiding direct confrontation outside their political strongholds.
Former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur had earlier turned back towards Dera Ismail Khan from Kulachi after citing a curfew, while another group reportedly travelled towards Swabi through Khyber instead of taking the direct Peshawar route.
