PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and activists have gone into hiding amid the party’s ongoing protest campaign.
According to details, PTI MPA from Mardan, Abdul Salam Afridi, has also gone into hiding on his own, while several office-bearers of the Insaf Students Federation (ISF) have remained out of contact for the past 48 hours.
Those missing from their usual activities include Amir Marwat, President of ISF University Campus Peshawar; Aman Ullah, former Chief Organizer of ISF at the University of Agriculture Peshawar; Abdul Basit, former General Secretary of ISF at Islamia College Peshawar; Junaid Zada, former Vice President of ISF at the University of Agriculture Peshawar; and Shafqat Ullah of ISF.
The PTI leadership has been attempting to locate the individuals but has so far been unable to establish contact with them.
The developments reflect growing uncertainty among party workers over the ongoing long march, alleging that some members now believe the protest has failed to achieve its intended momentum.
KPK Housing Minister Dr Amjad Ali Khan staged abduction drama in Swat to avoid protest pressure
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Housing Minister Dr Amjad Ali Khan, also known as “Amjad Pansari”, staged an abduction drama in Barikot, Swat, and subsequently went underground.
The incident took place in Dr Amjad’s home district amid growing political tensions and ongoing activity linked to the PTI-led protest movement.
The development is a broader attempt by elements within the provincial leadership to create political drama and avoid direct participation in the ongoing mobilisation.
The provincial leadership was already facing difficulties in organising the movement, with leaders taking lengthy routes and avoiding direct confrontation outside their political strongholds.
Former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur had earlier turned back towards Dera Ismail Khan from Kulachi after citing a curfew, while another group reportedly travelled towards Swabi through Khyber instead of taking the direct Peshawar route.
