PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department on Thursday auctioned four exportable permits for Markhor trophy hunting for the year 2026-27, raising a record over Rs335.3 million in revenue.
In a statement, the department said that the Markhor trophy hunting auction was held under the chairmanship of Chief Conservator Wildlife KP Dr. Mohsin Farooque.
The sealed bids were opened across various Village Conservation Committees (VCCs) in Chitral and Kohistan, while 5 percent call deposits and other required documents were also scrutinized.
As per the details, the highest bid of $335,600 (Rs92.96 million) was for the Tooshi-II (Chitral) permit, while Tooshi-I (Chitral) received a bid worth $320,600 (Rs88.8 million).
The Gehrait Gol (Chitral) permit was auctioned for $260,000 (Rs72.02 million), while the Kaigah Khwar (Kohistan) permit fetched $295,600 (Rs81.88 million).
Compared with last season, a 28 per cent increase was recorded in bids. A total of $946,000 was raised from four permits in 2025-26, while this year’s revenue reached $1,211,800, an increase of $265,800.
Last year, the highest bid for a Markhor trophy hunting permit was $272,000, equivalent to Rs75.347 million.
The wildlife department said that 80 per cent of the revenue will go directly to the community for developmental and non-developmental activities, while the remaining 20 per cent will be deposited into the government treasury.
