ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir, has criticized the Azad Kashmir government for violating Article 23 of the Interim Constitution of 1974.

During his address to the joint meeting of the District Shura of JI District Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Dr Muhammad additionally stated that the government is bound under the Interim Constitution of the state to provide free books and bags to children from primary to matriculation and not to charge fees from them.

He further revealed that the government is not only charging fees but is also not providing free books and bags to the students.

Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir raised a serious question for the authorities, stating whose responsibility it is to bring those children who are out of school simply because of a lack of fees, books, and bags to school?

Moreover, providing his view on the recently allocated budget for AJK, he said that the budget allocated for education is not enough, in Azad Kashmir, there are 1027 schools without roofs, 3431 schools where drinking water is not available, 3603 schools without boundary walls, 3775 schools where electricity facility is not available.

There are 2,752 schools where there is no washroom for students, and 2,245 schools where there is no washroom for teachers.
