MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has imposed a ban on new appointments and transfers across all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions until further orders.

The Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) has issued a formal notification in this regard on Wednesday.

The notification further stated that in cases of unavoidable circumstances, departments will be required to seek relaxation from the government before proceeding with any appointment or transfer.

Further instructions regarding the ban have been issued by the government to the relevant departments.

Earlier, the Election Commission of AJK lifted restrictions imposed during the 2026 election, following the completion of the polls. The newly formed AJK government has now reimposed the restrictions.

The decision has sparked disappointment among unemployed youth who had been hoping that the new government would announce fresh employment opportunities after the elections.

Public circles have expressed concern over the renewed ban, saying that instead of imposing a complete ban on appointments, the government should establish a transparent and merit-based recruitment system to provide employment opportunities to deserving candidates.
