EDGBASTON (Kashmir English): On the third day of the Birmingham Test, Pakistan scored 449 runs in their second innings, securing an overall lead of 129 runs over England.
Half-centuries from Shan Masood, Babar Azam, and Azan Awais, along with explosive batting from fast bowler Razaullah, turned the tide and saved the national team from an innings defeat.
By scoring 449 runs in their second innings on the third day of the Test against England, Pakistan averted an innings defeat.
Although Pakistan had managed only 133 runs in the first innings, the batting lineup put up a spirited fight in the second, pushing the overall lead to 129 runs.
Pakistan was bowled out for 449 in 96.4 overs. The team batted at a run rate of 4.64 in the second innings, scoring 67 runs in the final 10 overs.
Shan Masood played a magnificent innings, scoring 95 runs. Facing 148 balls and hitting 12 fours, his performance laid the foundation for Pakistan’s comeback.
Captain Babar Azam also displayed responsible batting, scoring 76 runs. He hit 11 fours and a six off 103 balls, stabilizing the innings alongside Shan Masood.
Young player Azan Awais played a fine innings of 59 runs, hitting 10 fours off 84 balls. His contribution played a crucial role in helping Pakistan overcome early difficulties. Saud Shakeel scored 29 runs, Ghazi Ghouri 16, and Muhammad Imran 4.
The highlight of Pakistan’s innings was the magnificent and aggressive knock by fast bowler Razaullah, who scored 81 runs off 63 balls, including nine sixes and four fours.
His rapid scoring provided Pakistan with crucial runs in the final stages, saving the team from an innings defeat.
Muhammad Abbas also played a vital innings of 42 runs, while Muhammad Ali remained unbeaten on 45. Pakistan also received 43 runs in extras.
For England, Josh Tongue claimed 2 wickets for 106 runs, while Ollie Robinson also took 2 wickets. Atkinson and Dan Lawrence claimed 2 wickets each. Jofra Archer took 1 wicket for 120 runs in 22 overs.
