ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Following the reduction in petroleum prices, the Pakistan Goods Transporters Association and public transport operators have announced an immediate 15 percent decrease in fares.
Earlier today, the federal government notified the sharp decline in the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs74.28 and Rs 67.31 per liter, respectively.
With the latest reduction, petrol has come down from Rs 373.78 to Rs 299.50 per liter, and diesel from Rs 378.78 to Rs 311.47 per liter, the notification issued by the Petroleum Division stated.
In a statement, President Nabil Mahmood Tariq welcomed the federal government’s decision to significantly reduce diesel prices, adding that the benefits will directly reach the country’s economic system.
“After this major reduction in diesel and petrol prices, there is a strong possibility of a significant reduction in the inflation rate across the country, which will benefit the common man,” he stated.
President Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance, Malik Shahzad Awan, has also announced a 15 percent reduction in goods transport fares.
Awan said that goods transporters operated vehicles at a loss in the broader interest of the country during difficult times. He demanded that the increase in withholding tax be withdrawn in the federal budget 2026-27.
