RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): The proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee’s (JAAC) sit-in at Drek Eidgah in Rawalakot flopped miserably as photographs circulating on social media showed large numbers of empty chairs at the venue.
According to observers, the sparse attendance has fueled debate over the level of public support currently enjoyed by the movement, which has remained at the center of political and security discussions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir in recent weeks.
Officials said that the action committee lured people under the guise of public rights. They gave the impression that they can exert pressure on state institutions through mobilizing large crowds and protests, but all their intentions have failed miserably.
As the reality of this group became clear to the public and their anti-state and anti-Pakistan narrative came to light, people moved away from them.
Today’s photos from the sit-in showed the deserted venue, which is undeniable evidence that they have neither public support nor any acceptable narrative left.
Officials said that it is extremely shameful, irresponsible, and condemnable to use women and children as a shield to hide their failure. On the other hand, their workers are busy harassing, threatening government officials, and challenging the state writ in different areas, due to which the citizens are suffering from severe anxiety and unrest, they said.
The conscious, patriotic, and responsible Kashmiri people have already rejected this group.
“Now the need is to completely reject those elements who are trying to weaken the eternal relationship between Pakistan and Kashmir, spread chaos in the state, and mislead the youth.”
