ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Germany offers significant employment opportunities for information technology (IT) professionals, with around 109,000 IT positions remaining vacant last year, the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) announced.

The bureau said demand for IT specialists was rising due to the growing role of digital technology, telecommunications and modern technologies in the German economy.

Employment opportunities are available in small and medium-sized businesses, industrial enterprises and major international companies, particularly in software development, application support, IT security and data science, the BEOE added.

It further stated that software developers are required to design and implement applications using various programming languages, while specialists in systems such as SAP and SharePoint play important roles in managing business operations and related technology systems.

“Data science professionals analyse large datasets using information technology and mathematical methods to identify useful insights and possible solutions.”

The bureau said citizens of non-European countries, including Pakistan, must obtain the relevant residence permits to work in Germany.

It added that Germany offers several legal routes for foreign professionals, including a special work visa option for IT specialists who may qualify without a formal university degree.

Under certain conditions, individuals with practical experience in information and communication technology can apply through this route even if they lack formal academic or professional qualifications, it stated.

The bureau advised Pakistani IT professionals interested in working in Germany to assess their qualifications and employment prospects before applying.

Further information about job opportunities, visa requirements, and career options is available through the German government’s official Make it in Germany portal, which also offers a Quick Check facility to help applicants assess their eligibility.
