ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir will depart for Switzerland tomorrow evening for the signing ceremony of the US-Iran peace agreement, diplomatic sources said.

According to the sources, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Atta Tarar, and other senior officials will also accompany them.

As per details, representatives of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkiye, and other regional countries will also be present at the ceremony.

Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch, along with other senior officials of the Foreign Office, has already arrived in Switzerland to make arrangements for the ceremony, sources said. Other senior Foreign Office officials will leave late tonight.

Earlier, the Swiss government said that the signing of the interim peace deal between the US and Iran on Friday will be held at the Bürgenstock hotel complex, a mountain resort overlooking Lake Lucerne.

The US and Iran plan to sign a 14-point memorandum of understanding there to end hostilities that have impeded transport through the Strait of Hormuz.

On Monday, Trump had declared that the Strait of Hormuz would be “completely open” from Friday. “The deal’s all signed. And the Strait is already partially opened,” Trump said as he arrived at the summit in France.

Moreover, he said the text of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iran will be released pretty soon. “I want it to be released, it’s a very powerful document … probably pretty soon, I’d say some time after Friday,” he said.

He further reiterated that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. “They agreed to that,” Trump says, adding that “strong policing” will enforce the agreement.

“Hopefully it’s going to be a good relationship … and if we don’t, we go back to where we started.”
