MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Police on Saturday rejected claims circulating on social media regarding an alleged operation and firing by law enforcement agencies at the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) sit-in being held at Eidgah in Rawalakot.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the spokesperson for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) AJK said no action had been taken against the sit-in at Eidgah and dismissed the “systematic campaign” being run on social media since this morning.
According to the spokesperson, certain individuals associated with the banned Public Action Committee are allegedly circulating old videos on social media to create unrest among the public and undermine confidence in state institutions and law enforcement agencies.

The statement further claimed that, amid declining public participation in the sit-in and the departure of many participants, such misleading content was being shared to create panic and advance what it described as a false narrative.
“We appeal to all our peace-loving citizens and social media users to be responsible and to prioritize national interest and verify any news or video before sharing it, and to believe only information obtained from authentic sources,” the AJK Police statement added.
It urged citizens to avoid becoming a part of any misleading, hateful or provocative campaign.
“Our top priority is peace, rule of law and protection of the public. We respect the constitutional and legal rights of every citizen and take action according to the intent of the law in every case.”
