ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Awami Dast-o-Baazu Sajid Iqbal Abbasi has accepted the invitation of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to join the government formation process after the recent election.
The decision was announced during a joint press conference in Islamabad after a meeting between Sajid Iqbal and senior PML-N leaders, where the ruling party invited him to become part of the new government.
Sajid Iqbal secured a landslide victory from the LA-14 (Bagh-I) constituency in the recent election on August 10 with 40,522 votes against former prime minister and Muslim Conference president Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, who received 19,637 votes.
Earlier, the meeting was attended by Minister for Kashmir Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam, Rana Sanaullah, AJK PML-N President Shah Ghulam Qadir, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Dr Mustafa Bashir Abbasi, Engineer Umair Naeem, Raja Riyaz, and other party leaders.
The PML-N leadership welcomed Sajid Iqbal’s decision, describing it as an important step towards forming a stable government in AJK and addressing the issues faced by the people of the West Bagh constituency.
Sajid Iqbal said his decision was guided by the interests of the people of West Bagh, particularly the need to address the constituency’s longstanding problems, overcome its backwardness, and protect the fundamental rights of its residents.
He said that all future decisions will be taken in consultation with the public interest, colleagues, and responsible persons.
