LAHORE (Kashmir English): Former Test cricketers Umar Gul and Asad Shafiq are likely to join the Pakistan team management for the Pakistan Test team’s tour of Bangladesh.
Pakistan played its last Test series against South Africa last year, but there are likely to be several changes in the team management for this series.
Reports say that Umar Gul is likely to be appointed bowling coach, and Asad Shafiq is likely to be appointed batting coach.
In addition, according to sources, Abdul Saad can be given the responsibilities of fielding coach. He has held the responsibilities of fielding coach of the women’s cricket team. He will be associated with the Pakistan men’s team for the first time.
It should be noted that Pakistan is scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a 2-Test series next month.
PCB retains Shan Masood; Sarfaraz likely new coach
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to retain Shan Masood as the captain of the Test team, while former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is likely to be made the head coach.
According to the media reports, the captain and head coach will be officially announced along with the announcement of the schedule for the series against Bangladesh.
Sarfaraz Ahmed is likely to take over the responsibilities of head coach for the first time, replacing Azhar Mahmood, while he is also the national selector at the moment.
Reports say that the decision to retain Shan Masood as captain has been taken to maintain continuity in the team.
