LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Test captain Shan Masood as Consultant International Cricket and Players’ Affairs, the board announced on Friday.

According to the details, the position is a newly created position previously advertised under the Director International Cricket Operations role.

Shan’s appointment is part of the board’s effort to strengthen international cricket operations and enhance coordination between players, management, and global cricketing bodies.

The 36-year-old left-handed batter has featured in 44 Tests for Pakistan, captaining the national side in 14 of those games. He also played nine ODIs and 19 T20Is, scoring 3,108 international runs, including six Test centuries.

Shan has also captained Pakistan in 14 Tests, including the recently concluded two-match ICC World Test Championship series against South Africa.

Under his leadership, Pakistan defeated England 2-1 last year, their first Test series win against England on home soil since 2005.

The Pakistan Test captain’s appointment came a month after the PCB suspended its Director of International Cricket, Usman Wahla, over delays in handling a crucial communication to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
