ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The national polio campaign will begin in 159 districts across the country from tomorrow.

According to the National Emergency Operations Center, 45.4 million children will be administered polio drops during the weekly polio campaign.

During the weekly polio campaign, children will also be given a supplemental dose of vitamin A along with the polio vaccine.

This national polio campaign will be held across the country from October 13 to 19.

The National EOC said that more than 400,000 health workers will go door to door to protect children from polio, while the polio campaign in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be held from October 20 to 23.

The National EOC has appealed to parents to make it mandatory for all children up to 5 years of age to receive polio drops and to complete the immunization course of all children from birth to 15 months on time.

Polio cases in Pakistan 2025

The National Institute of Health (NIH) has confirmed two new cases of poliovirus from Sindh’s Badin and Thatta districts, with both patients being young girls.

With the fresh cases, Pakistan’s total polio count in the ongoing year reaches 29, the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

According to the NIH, the new cases were detected in the Badin and Thatta districts of Sindh.

With this new report, Sindh’s tally for 2025 has reached nine. The country-wide breakdown of the cases shows 18 cases reported in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, nine in Sindh, and one each in Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.
