MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin has been appointed as the Leader of the Opposition of the AJK Legislative Assembly on Friday.
According to the notification issued by the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Speaker Tariq Farooq approved Chaudhry Yasin’s appointment under sub-rule (3) of rule 17 (A) of the Legislative Assembly Rules of Procedure.
Chaudhry Yasin, a seasoned politician from Azad Kashmir, contested the 2026 polls from two constituencies, LA-10 and LA-12, both from Kotli district. However, he won the seat from LA-10 Kotli City, defeating PML-N’s Fateh Mehmood.
Chaudhry Yasin previously served as Leader of the Opposition from 2016 to 2021 and has been involved in electoral politics since 1990.
