LONDON (Kashmir English): A senior Indian-origin heart surgeon has been struck off from practising medicine in the United Kingdom after being jailed for abusing his position to sexually assault female colleagues at a National Health Service (NHS) hospital in northern England.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr Amal Krishna Bose, 55, was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment in September last year after being convicted of 12 counts of sexual assault, including inappropriate touching and making sexualised comments to five female members of staff at the Blackpool Victoria Hospital in Lancashire between 2017 and 2022.
Following a hearing by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service, which concluded last week, Bose has been suspended and will be formally erased from the General Medical Council (GMC) register after the appeal period expires.
“This person [Dr Amal Krishna Bose] has been suspended from the Medical Register and may not practise as a doctor in the UK,” his GMC registration said. It further noted that the registrant “will be erased, pending an appeal period.”

Bose was sentenced at Preston Crown Court after a jury found him guilty at the end of a trial in June 2025.
“Bose has abused his position of power to sexually assault these female members of staff and by doing so has caused enormous damage,” Detective Chief Inspector Kirsty Wyatt of Lancashire Police said after the sentencing.
During the course of the trial, Bose was described as the root cause of a toxic and sexualised culture at the hospital.
