BHIMBER (Kashmir English): The national anti-polio campaign will start from October 13 to 17 in Bhimber and Neelum Valley districts of Azad Kashmir.
During the campaign, more than 81,000 children in Bhimber and 38,693 in Neelum Valley will be administered polio vaccine and vitamin A drops.
According to the administration, all preparations have been completed and the plan of action has been clarified.
The campaign in Bhimber was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Haq Nawaz, along with District Health Officer Dr. Iram Batool and SP Khawaja Abdul Qayyum.
Children were administered polio drops at the inaugural ceremony.
Deputy Commissioner Bhimber Chaudhry Haq Nawaz said that the national polio eradication campaign will involve the full cooperation of police, administration, and magistrates’ teams.
He said that Azad Kashmir has been a polio-free state for the last 24 years, which is a great achievement.
He further said that the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, is striving to establish a healthy society and is taking special interest in public health projects.
DC Bhimber appreciated the performance of DHO Dr. Iram Batool and his team and expressed hope that this time too the campaign will be successful like in the past.
Deputy DEO Chaudhry Muhammad Akram, Dr. Muhammad Imran Siddique, District Information Officer Adnan Mukhtar, AD Waqas Nasr, Muhammad Umar and Allah Dutta, and other officers were present at the inauguration ceremony.
Meanwhile, the polio campaign in Neelum Valley was also launched at the DHO Office.
At the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Ahmed Janjua, DHO Dr. Ghulam Nabi, DSP Sardar Zaheer, Assistant Education Officer Khawaja Mansha Anjum, Mubashir Gilani, and Khawaja Lashkar Hussain Azad inaugurated the campaign by administering polio drops to children.
220 mobile teams have been formed for the polio campaign in Neelum Valley.
