MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, has urged India to immediately halt gross human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and allow international observers access to the region.

He warned that failure to resolve the Kashmir issue in line with UN resolutions would keep the South Asian region under the constant threat of war.

Speaking to a delegation from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) AJK chapter, led by Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi at the Prime Minister’s House, the AJK premier welcomed the reaffirmation of a clear and firm stance on the Kashmir issue by Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal General Asim Munir, and paid tribute to him.

The APHC delegation included Advocate Parvez Shah, Abdul Hameed Lone, Raja Khadim Hussain, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, and Abdul Majeed Mir. The meeting focused on raising awareness about the Kashmir cause and other matters of mutual concern.

PM Anwar-ul-Haq also paid glowing tributes to the Pakistan Armed Forces for the outstanding success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. He strongly condemned India’s state terrorism and human rights abuses in IIOJK and paid homage to the martyrs of Kashmir.

He said the Pakistani nation, government, and especially the armed forces deserve deep appreciation for their historic and successful defence against Indian aggression.

The Prime Minister stated that the Kashmir issue is once again gaining international attention, and global voices are being raised for its resolution.

He expressed hope that Pakistan’s armed forces and government would further accelerate their diplomatic, political, and moral efforts for a peaceful, just, and lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute.

He voiced serious concern over India’s ongoing state terrorism and human rights abuse in IIOJK, attempts to erase the identity of Kashmiri Muslims, settlement of non-locals, demolition of pro-freedom Kashmiris’ homes using explosives, illegal confiscation of property, and mass arrests of Kashmiri youth under the pretext of the Pahalgam incident.

The Prime Minister emphasized that India is implementing a policy of repression by creating an atmosphere of fear and suppressing civil liberties in the region, and it is an unacceptable policy of human rights abuses in IIOJK.

He urged the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and freedom-loving nations around the world to exert pressure on India to resolve the Kashmir issue according to UN Security Council resolutions.
