LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has selected four fast bowlers and a fast bowling all-rounder for the tour of the West Indies and England, according to media reports.
The team management and selection committee have taken a final decision in this regard, as per media reports.
Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Abbas, Khurram Shahzad, and Ubaid Shah have been selected as fast bowlers, while Amir Jamal has been drawn as an all-rounder.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali and Hammad Butt, who were selected for the tour of Bangladesh, have been dropped.
20-year-old right-arm fast bowler Ubaid Shah, who hails from Lower Dir, has taken 72 wickets at an average of 25.20 in 16 first-class matches and has been selected for the Pakistan cricket team for the first time.
36-year-old Mohammad Abbas, who has taken 110 wickets in 29 Tests at an average of 23.23, is the most experienced bowler in the squad.
Right-arm fast bowler Mohammad Ali, 33, who played his last Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi in September 2024 and has taken 6 wickets in 4 Tests at an average of 66.67, is making a comeback to the team.
Khurram Shahzad, 26, a fast bowler from Mandi Bahauddin, who has taken 28 wickets in 7 Tests at an average of 27.39, is the fourth qualified fast bowler in the national team.
All-rounder Amir Jamal, who last played a Test against South Africa in Cape Town in January 2025, is making a comeback to the national team.
Amir Jamal, who hails from Mianwali, has scored 352 runs in 8 Tests for Pakistan and taken 21 wickets.
Pakistan Team to Leave on July 13
The Pakistan cricket team will leave Islamabad on July 13 for the West Indies tour. The national Test team, led by head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed, will report to Islamabad on July 8, and the squad will reportedly leave for the 2nd Test on July 13.
The national “Red Ball” cricket team’s camp is currently underway in Lahore and is likely to end on July 2.
The Pakistan Cricket Board will likely announce a single 17-member squad for the West Indies and England tours. The Pakistan cricket team will start the first Test in the West Indies on July 25 and the second Test on August 2.
The Pakistan team will start the 3-Test series in England from August 19.
