KARACHI (Kashmir English): On the occasion of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, a woman was killed and 70 people were injured in aerial firing in different areas of Karachi.
The 79th Independence Day is being celebrated with national enthusiasm across the country today.
Despite a strict warning from the police, aerial firing began in Karachi at 12 noon.
Rescue officials say that a woman was killed and 70 people were injured when a bullet came from an unknown direction.
According to rescue officials, women and children are among the injured when a bullet came from an unknown direction. The injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital, Civil Hospital, and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical assistance.
Yadgar-e-Fatah monument inaugurated in Islamabad
The Yadgar-e-Fatah monument in Islamabad has been inaugurated, commemorating Marka-e-Haq, in Islamabad on Thursday night as part of the grand celebrations of the 80th Independence Day.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal Asim Munir inaugurated Yadgar-e-Fatah on the eve of the country’s Independence Day.
Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly, Federal Ministers, Service Chiefs, and other senior civil and military officials attended the ceremony.
A large contingent of personnel from the military marched past along with paramilitary forces and police, presenting a guard of honour.
Police personnel from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, as well as Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, FC KP, and Balochistan, Punjab, and Sindh Rangers were part of the contingent.
The monument features five archways, which represent the five pillars of Islam, as well as the five pillars of Pakistan itself, including the government, the military, the media, the people, and the ideology underpinning the nation.
