KARACHI (Kashmir English): Former Sindh MPA Ghulam Rasool Unar has filed a petition at a court in Karachi alleging that he was cheated in marriage when a woman posed using AI-generated images and pictures to hide her real face and then blackmailed him with death threat him with those pictures.
According to a petition filed at the Additional District and Sessions Judge South, Unar stated that he met the accused woman through a social media application and a nikah of the petitioner and accused was performed on February 23, 2026 via a video call as per his request without the accused having shown her real face.
His lawyer, Aamir Nawaz Warraich, informed the court that on each occasion, whenever the petitioner, Indhar, requested the accused woman, she allegedly used to send an AI-generated picture of herself while she had worn the veil on the day of nikah.
The petitioner was shocked when he saw the woman after the marriage; the pictures of the accused uploaded by her did not resemble the real face of the accused, and she looked totally different.
According to the former MPA, in the initial days, he continued to stay with her in the matrimonial house, but later on, as per his lawyer, the social media profiles of the accused allegedly started receiving posts with fake photos that alleged that the petitioner was dead on Feb 25, on which the petitioner took divorce from the accused on August 2.
The petitioner alleges the accused woman had demanded millions of rupees from the MPA Ghulam Rasool before the divorce and blackmailed him.
Ghulam Rasool also said he has previously lodged an application against the woman in the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The court has issued notices to the SP Complaint cell, SHO Defence police, and ordered them to report within 48 hours by August 17.
The allegations against the woman are unproved, and no conviction for criminal liability has been reported. This raises significant concerns over the increasing use of AI-generated images and social media identities for online deception and fraud.
