DUBAI (Kashmir English): Opening batter Abdullah Shafique, Pakistan captain Babar Azam, and several bowlers made notable gains in the latest ICC Test rankings following the national side’s two-match series against the West Indies.
Pakistan played the series 1-1. Babar, who was the leading run-scorer and Player of the Series with 193 runs in four innings, jumped five places to 10th in the Test batting rankings with 716 points.
Saud Shakeel, meanwhile, slipped two places to 26th with 634 points, while wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan dropped one place to 27th.
Abdullah made a major gain after returning to Test cricket and scoring a century in the second Test. The opener jumped 25 places to 32nd with 607 points.
Salman Ali Agha slipped six places to 38th, while former captain Shan Masood dropped three places to 39th. Left-handed opener Imam-ul-Haq also fell four places to 57th while Aamer Jamal moved up one place to 99th with 301 points.
Travis Head of Australia retained the top spot among Test batters, with England duo Harry Brook and Joe Root occupying second and third positions, respectively.
Test bowling rankings
As far as Test bowling rankings is concerned, Pakistan spinner Noman Ali slipped one place to eighth with 800 points, while Mohammad Abbas also slipped one place to 18th. Shaheen Afridi retained his 29th place with 611 points.
India pacer Jasprit Bumrah retained the top position in the Test bowling rankings, followed by New Zealand’s Matt Henry in second and Australia’s Mitchell Starc in third.
