SOUTHAMPTON (Kashmir English): Pakistan Women’s Cricket team’s disappointing performance continues in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup with their third consecutive loss in the event against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh women defeated Pakistan team by 23 runs in the match played in Southampton.
This is Pakistan’s third consecutive failure in the tournament, which has severely dashed their hopes of qualifying for the next stage.
Chasing a target of 124 runs, the entire Pakistan team was restricted to just 100 runs in the allotted overs.
Pakistan Women’s team didn’t have a good start and the batters appeared to be under constant pressure against the Bangladeshi bowlers.
Openers Muneeba Ali with 25 runs and Gul Feroza with 23 runs showed some resistance, while captain Fatima Sana could manage only 10 runs. Apart from these three, no other batter could reach double figures.
Nahida Akter and Sanjida Akter Meghla from Bangladesh displayed destructive bowling, sending three players each back to the pavilion and breaking the back of Pakistan’s batting line.
Earlier, Bangladesh Women won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 123 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Middle-order batter Shorna Akter, played a responsible innings of 39 runs, while captain Nigar Sultana supported her well with 36 runs, helping the team reach a stable score.
From Pakistan’s side, captain Fatima Sana led from the front in bowling as well, taking 2 wickets, while Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sandhu, and Tuba Hassan each dismissed one player.
