First ODI: Bangladesh cricket team creates history after 21 years

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The Bangladesh cricket team defeated Australia by 86 runs in the first ODI of the three-match series, achieving a victory against the Kangaroos in an ODI after 21 years.

In the first match of the ODI series, the visiting team won the toss and invited host Bangladesh to bat.

Bangladesh scored 284 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Mosaddek Hossain played an unbeaten innings of 86 runs.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 67 runs, while Tanzid Hasan scored 54 runs. For Australia, Nathan Ellis took 3 wickets.

However, in response to the target, the Australian team struggled. When Australia scored 191 for 9 wickets in 42.2 overs, the match was stopped due to rain, after which play could not resume and the match ended with Bangladesh’s victory.

Cameron Green scored 52 runs and Alex Carey scored 47 runs. For Bangladesh, Nahid Rana took 4 wickets with excellent bowling.

Bangladesh defeated Australia by 86 runs under the DLS method, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

It is noteworthy that Bangladesh achieved success in ODI cricket against Australia after 21 years.

Previously, Bangladesh last defeated Australia in an ODI match on June 18, 2005, in Cardiff.
