ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced the introduction of a revolutionary and modern digital system for senior citizens and pensioners.
Under the new system, pensioners will now be able to complete their biometric verification from home through facial recognition, which will free them from long queues and repeated visits to banks.
According to the Finance Minister, the primary objective of this digital initiative is to make government affairs easy, transparent, and modern so that the elderly citizens of the country do not face any administrative difficulties or problems.
Increase in pensions
Speaking to media, the finance minister said that the government has significantly increased the salaries and pensions of its employees.
Simultaneously, he said, special measures have been taken to reduce the burden on regular taxpayers, while comprehensive reforms to expand the tax net are rapidly underway.
He clarified that the use of digitalization and artificial intelligence is ultimately eliminating discretionary powers in the government system.
Shedding light on the current state of the country’s economy, he said economic indicators have significantly improved over the past year, and the country’s current account is now in surplus.
“The role of overseas Pakistanis and freelancers has been key in supporting the economy.”
He said overseas Pakistanis sent $4.25 billion in foreign exchange to the country adding Pakistani freelancers contributed a substantial $1.6 billion to the national economy.
