KURRAM (Kashmir English): Pakistani security forces on Thursday thwarted an attempt by Afghan Taliban border posts to facilitate intrusion by the formation of Fitna Al Khawarij and also arrested an Afghan soldier along the Pak-Afghan border.

According to security sources, Afghan Taliban opened discriminatory fire on Pakistani border posts to facilitate movements of Khawarij from across the border into Pakistani territory.

The troops foiled the attempt and launched retaliatory strikes, causing multiple casualties and destroying the Taliban posts involved in facilitating the activity.

During the operation, security forces apprehended an Afghan militant alive, identified as Qari Waqas alias, a resident of Spin Ghar from Upper Kurram sector. He had reportedly arrived to join Khawarji Kazim.

Upon arrest, the Afghan soldier immediately surrendered himself and an SMG along with ammunition.

Pakistani security sources accused Afghan Taliban personnel of facilitating the infiltration attempt by providing covering fire from positions across the border.
