CHERAT (Kashmir English): Pakistan and Kazakhstan have commenced a two-week-long joint counterterrorism training exercise to enhance military-to-military ties, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Thursday.
Pakistan has routine joint military training with nations in Asia, the Middle East, and elsewhere in order to enhance operational capability, strengthen defence cooperation, and enhance interoperability.
Through these interactions, Pakistan can exchange counterterrorism knowledge, strengthen alliances, and project itself as a balanced and responsible regional power.
According to a press release issued by the ISPR, Pakistan-Kazakhstan Joint Exercise Dostarym-V is being undertaken between the Pakistan and Kazakhstan armies in the counter terrorism field from 13-24 October 2025 at the Special Operations School, Cherat, Pakistan.”
“Special Services Group of [the] Pak Army and Special Forces of the Kazakhstan Army are taking part in the exercise,” it stated. Further, the statement said the opening ceremony of the exercise took place on Tuesday in Cherat.
The exercise is to “fine-tune professional expertise through collective training and leveraging historic military-to-military ties between friendly nations,” the statement added. “Troops taking part are eagerly anticipating [gaining] from mutual experience and expertise.”
In April, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir embarked on an official visit to Kazakhstan and met with the Defence Minister of Kazakhstan, Colonel General Ruslan.
The two leaders held detailed talks on the evolving regional security environment, common strategic goals, and the prospects for further defense cooperation bilaterally.
They emphasized the importance of intensifying defense-to-defense cooperation and reconfirmed their resolve to cooperate for regional peace, stability, and security.
