ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan armed forces conducted punishment fire plan on multiple forward Afghan Taliban posts in selected sectors all along the Pak-Afghan border on March 2, 2026, as part of a retaliation to hostilities initiated by Afghanistan on Feb 26.

According to the security sources, six additional checkposts of the Afghan Taliban forces were destroyed by heavy weapons fire in different sectors throughout the day.

Furthermore, the officials said that in Zinda Sector, North Waziristan, TTA attempted to build up forces, which were neutralised by effective and punishing fire.

“Other attempts by TTA were made through small arms fire from a distance during the day; however, those were also neutralised by effective mortar, tank and artillery fire,” they added.

Moreover, ten airstrikes were undertaken in various depth locations for Terrorist hunting and the degradation of military infrastructure.

“As per confirmed reports, further casualties of TTA and kharjis have occurred; however, no casualties of Pak Security forces occurred on the entire front,” the sources said.

In the Chitral sector, a request of flag meeting by TTA has been received through the elders of the area for the return of five dead bodies of Afghan Taliban, which they had left behind on the night of February 26 and 27 during an assault by the Pakistan Armed Forces on their post.

The sources further said that “at many locations along the front, Afghan forces have raised white flags on their posts, calling for de-escalation and showing an unwillingness to fight further.”

“Ghudwana Enclave(32 sq Km area) is firmly held by its own forces in the Zhob sector, and nearby TTA posts in that sector are mostly vacated with raised white flag.”

“Heavy machinery by Pakistan is employed to dig a 7 km long trench to consolidate the absorbed 32 Sq km of Afghanistan territory.”
