MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The claims of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) to remain peaceful have once again come under question after police recovered a massive amount of arms and weapons.
According to Mirpur police, during a routine checkup, two motorcycle-riding men, Naeem and Aqib, were arrested who had returned to Dadial from the Rawalakot sit-in and were going back to Rawalakot.
According to initial investigations, the arrested men revealed that they were working on the instructions of Khawaja Mehran, Sardar Aman, and Nazim Kashmiri and were taking weapons from Dadial on their orders.
According to the police, two Kalashnikovs, three pistols, and a large quantity of bullets were recovered from the possession of the accused. The arrested men say that they have been continuously involved in the activities of the banned Public Action Committee and were transporting the recovered weapons to Rawalakot.
According to sources, the accused have also made important revelations about the internal conditions of the sit-in during the interrogation. They claim that the situation there is extremely tense and some people are being forcibly detained.
A resident of Mirpur, who is about 18 years old, was abducted by Nazim Kashmiri and some of his associates, and now they are not allowing him to return so that he cannot return and make any statements.
This whole situation once again raises the question of what elements are active in the movement started in the name of public rights and what their real objectives are.
The public is being appealed to stay away from mischievous elements and groups that take the law into their own hands. The attainment of fundamental rights is the legitimate right of every citizen, and raising their voice for these rights is also a democratic right; however, incitement, violence, or illegal activities against state institutions cannot be supported in any way.
The current situation demands that the public should examine the facts impartially and be wary of any agenda that could lead to chaos in society in the name of fundamental rights.
