QUETTA (Kashmir English): Questions have been raised over the continued movement of trucks and the operation of mining businesses reportedly linked to former Balochistan chief minister and BNP-Mengal leader Akhtar Mengal amid ongoing attacks by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) on transport and commercial targets in the province.
According to an Azaad Urdu report, the trucks allegedly owned by Akhtar Mengal have been continuously ferrying marble from Balochistan to Karachi without being interrupted, whereas others involved in transport activities have been under attack from unknown elements.
The report added that these trucks allegedly owned by Mengal had not been targeted by the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Social media users questioned whether there were special protections granted to these trucks due to some form of agreement between Mengal and the militant outfit.
The report alleged that the ongoing activities of these trucks have generated rumors regarding a possible connection between Akhtar Mengal and the banned organization.
A comprehensive investigation needs to be conducted in this regard to find out the reasons behind these trucks conducting their business operations amid security threats posed to other transporters.
