Kashmir to honor Mirwaiz Maulvi Muhammad Farooq on 35th Martyrdom anniversary

SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): The martyrdom anniversary of prominent freedom movement leader Mirwaiz Maulvi Muhammad Farooq will be observed with devotion and respect in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Mirwaiz Maulvi Muhammad Farooq was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Srinagar on May 21, 1990.
According to Kashmir Media Service, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and head of Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has announced the organization of several events in connection with the 35th death anniversary of his father.

These events will begin on Sunday, May 18, and will continue till May 21. On May 18, a Quran recitation competition will be organized at Jamia Masjid Srinagar at 11 am under the auspices of Anjuman Uqab.

On May 19, a blood donation camp will be organized at Ganj Bakhsh Park, Nowhatta, Srinagar at 11 am under the auspices of Mirwaiz Foundation.

On May 20, a seminar titled “Building a Drug-Free Kashmir – The Role of Students and Society” will be organized at the auditorium of Islamia Higher Secondary School, Rajouri Kadal, at 10 am under the auspices of Anjuman Nusratul Islam.

On May 21, a Fateha Khawani ceremony will be held at the Martyrs’ Shrine, Eidgah, Srinagar at 10:30 am on Wednesday. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement, has appealed to the people to participate in these events and express their deep devotion and respect to Mirwaiz Maulvi Farooq and other martyrs.
