ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Islamabad traffic police on Friday issued an alternative traffic plan for the federal capital amid the closure of major roads due to the expected arrival of the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Islamabad.
As per the traffic advisory issued tonight, the Red Zone and the Extended Red Zone will remain completely closed to all types of traffic, while the Islamabad Expressway from Koral to Zero Point will be closed to all types of traffic.
Islamabad police further said that traffic may also be stopped on the Srinagar Highway at various times.
“Entry of all types of heavy traffic coming from any direction or from any highway into Islamabad will be closed. Heavy traffic owners are requested not to travel towards Islamabad during these days to avoid inconvenience,” the advisory stated.
Alternative traffic plan
The traffic police have also shared an alternative traffic plan in case of the closure of various roads across the city.
As per the plan, traffic from G5, G6, G7, F6, and F7 should use 9th Avenue from Margalla Road to reach Rawalpindi.
Similarly, traffic coming from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point will be diverted to 9th Avenue.
In case of closure of Koral Chowk from Zero Point, one can use Srinagar Highway, 9th Avenue, Stadium Road, Murree Road, Rawal Road, Airport Road to reach Koral Chowk.
In case of closure of Club Road to Park Road, traffic will be diverted towards Taramri Chowk.
Citizens coming from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi can use Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lahtrar Road.
Meanwhile, traffic coming from Saddar, Rawalpindi, to Islamabad can use Karnal Sher Khan Road and Faqir Api Road, or 9th Avenue.
Heavy traffic going from GT Road, Peshawar, to Lahore should use the Motorway from Taxila, and Chakri Interchange, Chak Beli Road to reach GT Road near Rawat.
Similarly, heavy traffic coming from GT Road Lahore should use the Chak Beli Road from GT Road Rawat to Chakri Interchange and reach Taxila via the Motorway, from where they can continue their journey to Peshawar from GT Road.
