WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will travel to Pakistan tomorrow morning for peace talks with Iran, the White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said.

Talking to Fox News, the White House press secretary said Witkoff and Kushner will have talks with the Iranian delegation, hours after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed his ‘timely’ visit to Pakistan.

“We’re hopeful that it will be a productive conversation and hopefully move the ball forward to a deal,” she said.

“Everyone will be on standby to fly to Pakistan if necessary, but first, Steve and Jared will be going over there to report back to the president, the vice president, and the rest of the team,” Leavitt added.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is set to arrive in Pakistan tonight for a bilateral visit, he confirmed on Friday.

Earlier, the Pakistani state media, citing government sources, reported that Abbas Araghchi is expected to arrive in Islamabad tonight with a small team for the US-Iran peace talks.

In a post on X, the Iranian top diplomat says he is embarking on his “timely tour of Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow” to closely coordinate with our partners on bilateral matters and consult on regional developments.

“Our neighbors are our priority,” he wrote.

Earlier, Iranian state media also reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will head a delegation to Pakistan, Oman, and Russia.

“He is to hold bilateral consultations and discuss current developments in the region, as well as the latest situation in the war imposed by the United States and the Israeli terrorist regimes on Iran,” the IRNA reported.
