ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Questions over the Islamabad M-2 motorway closure today have emerged amid announcements by political parties planning marches towards the federal capital.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a march towards Islamabad’s Red Zone on September 27, while Jamaat-e-Islami has planned a ‘Super Long March’ towards the capital on September 23 and 24.
Is Islamabad M-2 motorway closed today?
According to the information available so far, no official notification has been issued confirming the closure of the M-2 motorway leading towards Islamabad.
The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has also not announced any general closure of the motorway.
Social media posts claiming that routes entering and leaving Islamabad have been completely blocked have also circulated widely.
Major roads, highways and motorways remain open for traffic unless authorities issue specific restrictions, according to the available information.
Motorists travelling towards Islamabad are advised to check official updates from the NHMP and relevant authorities before starting their journey, particularly amid the scheduled political activities in and around the capital.
