TEHRAN (Kashmir English): Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei has stated that Tehran has presented three conditions to the United States via a Qatari mediator for resuming negotiations and is now awaiting a response from US President Donald Trump.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Rezaei said that to reach any agreement, Iran has demanded an end to hostilities on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and the lifting of the US naval blockade.
He noted that Iran remains in constant contact with the Qatari mediator, who has conveyed Tehran’s demands to Washington.
According to Rezaei, a process of indirect diplomacy has continued throughout the months-long conflict between Iran and the US; these contacts persisted even after the expiration of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
It is worth noting that this memorandum was signed following talks hosted by Pakistan in June, with the aim of halting hostilities and paving the way for a broader agreement.
