ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Former CIA Counter-Terrorism Station Chief in Islamabad, John Kiriakou, has made startling claims regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s alleged communications with the United States, before his public accusation that Washington had conspired to oust his government.

In an interview, Kiriakou claimed that Imran Khan contacted the US ambassador before his anti-American statements, allegedly informing him that “I am going to accuse America.”

According to Kiriakou, Khan sought assurances from the US that no action would be taken against him following his statements.

He further claimed that the American establishment responded positively to Khan’s request, but Pakistani generals refused to accept Washington’s recommendation in Khan’s favor.

The former CIA officer also alleged that Khan sent messages to U.S. officials, demanding face-saving after political tensions escalated in Pakistan.

Kiriakou asserted that the US establishment then reached out to Khan’s ex-wife, Jemima Goldsmith, asking her to contact influential figures in Pakistan. However, he said that the Pakistani establishment also rejected Jemima’s recommendation. Concluding his remarks, Kiriakou said, “Pakistani generals no longer listen to us”.
