LORDS (Kashmir English): England extended their lead over Pakistan to 261 runs on the second day of the second Test at Lord’s.
At the end of the day, England had scored 81 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 22 overs in the second innings. Emilio Gay was not out on 30, and Harry Brooke was not out on 7 runs.
Earlier, England had scored 290 runs in the first innings, in response to which the Pakistan team was all out for 110 runs in 37.2 overs. Thus, England got a lead of 180 runs in the first innings.
For Pakistan, Azan Owais played an innings of 46 runs, while Saud Shakeel was the other prominent batsman with 16 runs. Imam-ul-Haq did not come out to bat due to injury.
For England, Olly Robinson took 4 wickets, Jofra Archer 3 and Josh Tong took 2 wickets. Robinson took 4 wickets for just 11 runs in 13 overs.
England’s second innings also started with difficulties. Khurram Shahzad dismissed Ben Duckett for one and Jordan Cox for 11 runs.
After that, Joe Root and Emilio Gay put on a 47-run partnership for the third wicket, but Mohammad Ali dismissed Joe Root for 24 runs.
After Joe Root’s dismissal, Emilio Gay and Harry Brook did not allow any further loss and ended the day with an unbeaten partnership of 21 runs.
In the second innings for Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad took 2 wickets while Mohammad Ali took one wicket.
Earlier, England started their first innings on the second day with the loss of 248 runs for 9 wickets and added another 42 runs to be all out for 290 runs. Gus Atkinson scored 45, and Josh Tong scored an unbeaten 30 runs, while the two made a 47-run partnership for the last wicket.
For Pakistan, Muhammad Abbas took 4 wickets, Muhammad Ali took 3 wickets, while Khurram Shahzad and Ali Usman took one wicket each.
